Continuing Education and Professional Development Credits
Shapeshift can track professional development credits earned by learners when they complete Courses.
Depending on the platform configuration, this can include:
- CPD Hours
- Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
A platform may use one or both of these measures depending on its training and professional development requirements.
Configuring credits
CPD Hours and CEUs are configured against individual Courses in the CMS.
When a learner is enrolled onto a Course, the configured values are stored against their Course enrollment.
This means the learner's enrollment retains the credit values associated with that Course at the time of enrollment, rather than relying only on the Course's current configuration.
Credits are considered earned when the learner completes the Course.
Learning Paths
Learning Paths can display the combined professional development value of the Courses they contain.
By default, the Path's CPD Hours and CEUs are calculated from the total values of its Courses.
A Learning Path can also be configured with its own value where a different total needs to be presented.
The learner's underlying credit records remain associated with their individual Course enrollments.
Organization reporting
Where enabled, Organization Owners can see CPD Hours and CEUs alongside the Courses completed by the learners they manage.
This allows managers to review professional development alongside progress, completion and other learning information.
Learner records
Because earned credits are stored against Course enrollments, they can also be used in learner transcripts, reporting and other client-specific learning records where these features have been configured.
The exact learner-facing experience depends on the platform implementation.
Certificates
CPD Hours and CEUs can be included on Course or Learning Path certificates.
Certificate layouts are customized for each platform, so the credits shown on a certificate depend on how that client's certificate template has been implemented.
Adding new information to an existing certificate layout may require development work.
Reporting
Professional development credits can be included in platform reporting and analytics.
The exact reports available depend on the reporting configuration for your platform.
