Notes and Bookmarks

Personal study tools

Notes and Bookmarks give learners a personal space to save useful information and quickly return to learning content.

Both are private to the individual learner and do not affect Course progress or completion.

Notes

Learners can take Notes while working through supported learning modules.

Notes are available on:

  • Lessons
  • SCORM modules
  • Webinars

Learners can create, edit and delete their own Notes.

Video Notes

When taking a Note on a Lesson with a primary video, Shapeshift can save the current video timestamp alongside the Note.

This allows the learner to return directly to the relevant point in the video when reviewing their Notes later.

The timestamp functionality uses the dedicated Lesson video rather than videos embedded within the Lesson body.

Notes Library

Learners can access their Notes from a central Notes Library, bringing together Notes from across their learning.

The Notes Library can be searched, making it easier to find previously saved information without returning to each individual Course or module.

Selecting a Note takes the learner back to the learning content it relates to and, where available, to the relevant video timestamp.

Bookmarks

Bookmarks allow learners to save individual learning modules so they can quickly return to them later.

Bookmarks can be used with:

  • Lessons
  • Quizzes
  • Surveys
  • SCORM modules

A Bookmark saves the module itself rather than a specific position within its content.

Learners can add and remove Bookmarks whenever they need to.

Personal learning

Notes and Bookmarks belong to the individual learner.

They are designed as personal study tools and do not change enrollment, Course progress, module completion or assessment results.
