Learning Paths

What are Learning Paths?

Learning Paths allow you to combine multiple Courses into a single structured learning journey.

They can be used for programs that require learners to complete several Courses, such as onboarding programs, certification programs, or structured training pathways.

When a learner is enrolled onto a Learning Path, they are enrolled onto the Courses within it.

Creating a Learning Path

Learning Paths are created from existing Courses on your platform.

When creating a Learning Path, you can choose which Courses it contains and arrange them in the order you want them to appear.

Depending on your platform configuration, Learning Paths may be created centrally through the CMS or by Organization Owners using Courses that have been made available to their Organization.

Freeform and linear progression

Learning Paths can use either freeform or linear progression.

With freeform progression, all Courses within the Learning Path are available and learners can complete them in any order.

With linear progression, Courses must be completed in sequence. Learners complete the current Course before progressing to the next Course in the Learning Path.

This can be useful where Courses build on one another or need to be completed in a prescribed order.

Learning Path completion

A Learning Path is completed once the learner has completed all of the Courses within it.

Learners can see their progress through the Learning Path as they complete its Courses.

Learning Path certificates

Learning Paths can be configured to award a certificate when the entire Learning Path has been completed.

This is separate from any certificates awarded for completing individual Courses. Where both are enabled, a learner may therefore receive individual Course certificates as well as a certificate for completing the overall Learning Path.

Learning Paths for Organizations

Courses can be made available to specific Organizations.

Where Organization Owners are allowed to create their own Learning Paths, they can build them using the Courses that have been made available to their Organization. This allows each Organization to create learning journeys for its learners without providing access to Courses outside its available content.
