Webinars

Introduction

A webinar is a live or recorded seminar delivered as part of a course. It functions as a module type in the LMS, alongside Lessons, Quizzes, Surveys, and SCORMs.

Webinars can be scheduled live sessions or pre-recorded videos, depending on your configuration. They allow for interactive or time-based learning experiences while remaining fully integrated into course progression.

If webinars are not currently enabled in your instance, contact support@plume.co.uk to discuss activation and pricing.

Webinar content

Each webinar module can include supporting content such as:

  • Title and description
  • Event date and time
  • Recording link (e.g. Vimeo, YouTube, Brightcove, Mux)
  • Files or resources for download
  • Optional drip settings to control availability

The Video URL field supports Vimeo, YouTube, Brightcove, and Mux links. This field is typically used to display a recording of the webinar after the event.

There are no out-of-the-box fields for live webinar setup. Integrations with providers such as Zoom or Vimeo Live can be implemented for clients as part of a custom configuration.

Creating a webinar

  1. In the CMS, go to Content Manager > Webinar.
  2. Click + Create new entry.
  3. Add the key information required for your instance, such as:
    1. Title and optional subtitle
    2. Event date and time
    3. Video URL (for recordings)
    4. Optional descriptive text for the webinar introduction
  4. (Optional) Configure drip settings to control when the webinar becomes available to learners:
    • Drip by days: Unlock the webinar X days after enrollment. This is calculated from the learner’s enrollment date in the course.
    • Drip by date: Unlock the webninar at a specific date and time.
  5. Click Save to save the webinar as a draft.
  6. Publish the webinar when ready.

Note: A published webinar will not appear in the LMS until it has been added to a course curriculum.

You can also create a webinar as a module shell when building a course and return later to add content before publishing.

Progression behavior

Webinars, like other module types, contribute to course completion by default.

  • Whether learners must complete the webinar in sequence depends on the course’s linear progression setting.
  • You can toggle whether a webinar counts toward progression in the curriculum builder.
  • If progression is disabled for a webinar, it becomes optional and will not affect course completion.

This allows you to include optional or reference content without impacting course progress tracking.

Linked courses

When editing a webinar, you can view which courses it’s attached to in the Linked course(s) field. This is useful for managing content shared across multiple courses.

Key things to keep in mind

  • Webinars function as modules and contribute to course progression by default.
  • The Video URL field is designed for post-event recordings.
  • Live webinar setup requires custom configuration per client.
  • Drip settings can restrict access until a specific date or time.
  • Publishing a webinar alone does not make it visible to learners; it must be linked to a course.
