Media Library

The Media Library is the central place for managing uploaded images, documents and other files used throughout the CMS.

Shapeshift uses Strapi's standard Media Library, so the tools available for uploading, organizing, searching and editing media are provided by Strapi and may continue to improve as Strapi is updated.

Reusing media

Files uploaded to the Media Library can be reused across different areas of the platform.

Rather than uploading a new copy each time, administrators can select an existing asset from the Media Library when editing content.

The exact media types available depend on the field being edited. For example, an image field only allows image assets to be selected.

Where media is used

Media Library assets are used throughout Shapeshift.

Common examples include:

Course featured images
Learning Path featured images and icons
Lesson and Webinar files
Images used within learning content
Certificate backgrounds
Profile images and other configured platform content

The fields available on your platform depend on its configuration and enabled features.

Lesson and Webinar files

Lessons and Webinars can include downloadable or supporting files.

These can include:

Documents
Images
Audio
Video
Other supported file formats

Multiple files can be attached to the same module and made available to learners alongside the main learning content.

Images and thumbnails

Courses and Learning Paths use featured images to represent them throughout the learner experience.

Individual modules can also use a thumbnail override where a different image is needed for that specific module.

Where no override is configured, the platform may use other available imagery depending on the design and configuration of your LMS.

Video content

Although video files can be stored in the Media Library, primary learning videos are normally configured using the dedicated video fields provided on Courses and Lessons.

This structured approach allows Shapeshift to use additional video information for features such as duration, curriculum icons, timestamped Notes and progression rules.

For that reason, uploading a video to the Media Library is not generally a replacement for configuring the module's primary video field.

Organizing the Media Library

The Media Library includes Strapi's standard tools for organizing and finding assets.

These capabilities are maintained by Strapi and may change as the CMS is updated. Refer to the current Strapi Media Library interface when organizing folders, searching for assets or editing uploaded files.

Storage and upload limits

The file storage provider and maximum upload size are configured for each Shapeshift deployment.

If you need to upload a particularly large file or an unsupported file format, contact Plume before changing the platform configuration.
