Admin Reporting
Introduction
Admin reporting gives CMS administrators insight into learner activity and progress across the platform.
Out of the box, the CMS includes a set of basic reports that can be generated as CSV files.
For more advanced analytics and richer visualizations, Metabase is also available as an optional reporting tool.
If your instance doesn’t have Metabase reporting enabled, contact support@plume.co.uk for more information.
Basic CMS reports
The standard reporting feature is available under Advanced Actions > Reports in the CMS.
You can generate and download several predefined reports covering user activity and learning progress. These reports run in the background, allowing you to work elsewhere while they process.
Report types available
- Course Progression Report
- Summarizes user progress for all courses. A user must have made progress within the selected time period to appear in the report.
- The progress percentage is calculated as: Completed modules ÷ Total enrolled modules for that user.
- Users Report
- Lists all users on the system during the selected timeframe.
- Quiz Report
- Details quiz performance metrics, including average attempts, number of submissions, and pass rates per question.
- User Course Completion Report
- Lists completions for a given course within the selected timeframe for a specific user.
Creating a report
- In the CMS, go to Advanced Actions > Reports.
- Click Request new report.
- Select the report type from the dropdown.
- Enter a report label to help you identify the report later.
- Enter the start and end dates for the reporting period.
- Depending on the report type, select any additional required fields (e.g. quiz or user).
- Click Generate.
Reports run in the background. Depending on the dataset size, it may take several minutes to complete.
Viewing a report
- In the Reports section, scroll to or search for the report.
- On the right-hand side of the report row, choose:
- Download icon: Download the CSV file directly.
- Link icon: Copy a direct link to the report file (can be shared or pasted into a browser).
Deleting a report
- In the Reports section, find the report you want to delete.
- Click the bin icon on the right-hand side of the row.
- The report will be permanently deleted.
Advanced reporting with Metabase
While the CMS provides essential reports, many clients use Metabase for deeper insight into user engagement and performance.
Metabase offers:
- Interactive dashboards with live data
- Flexible filtering and segmenting by cohort, course, or time period
- Visual reporting (charts, graphs, tables)
- Drill-down capability for granular analysis
- The ability to create and share custom dashboards with other admins
