What is a Survey?

Surveys allow you to collect feedback and other information from learners as part of a Course.

Unlike Quizzes, Surveys are not graded and do not have correct or incorrect answers. Completing and submitting the Survey completes the module.

Survey responses are associated with the individual learner and their Course enrollment.

Surveys support several question types.

Boolean questions allow the learner to choose between two options, such as Yes or No.

Single Choice questions present several options and allow the learner to select one.

Multiple Choice questions allow the learner to select multiple options from a list.

Rating questions allow learners to provide a score on a configured scale.

These are useful for satisfaction scores, confidence ratings and other scaled feedback.

Text questions allow learners to enter a written response.

Text questions can be configured as optional or required and can also use minimum and maximum word counts.

A Survey is completed when the learner submits their response.

There is no passing score and responses are not marked as correct or incorrect.

Once submitted, Shapeshift records the Survey as complete against the learner's Course enrollment.

If the Course uses linear progression, completing the Survey allows the learner to continue to the next required module.

Individual modules within a Course curriculum can be configured as optional.

An optional Survey can therefore be included in a Course without requiring the learner to complete it for overall Course completion.

Survey responses are stored against the learner's enrollment and can be analyzed through the reporting tools available in your platform.

For administrators, Survey reporting is typically handled through the analytics dashboards in the CMS.

This allows responses to be combined with other learner and Course data for analysis.
